Have Your Say

Find the right place to act

Illustration: two people reading a community noticeboard, with speech bubbles above them.

Report a local problem, contact your councillor, respond to a proposal, take part in a Council meeting or find the public authority responsible.

Wodonga Wire does not receive reports, complaints, submissions or messages. We link you to the official place to act.

What do you need to do?

Check current opportunities

What is open right now is published by Council. These three pages are where to look.

Report a local problem

Ordinary Council service issues start at Council’s online services: potholes, footpaths, street trees, drains, bins, parks and local laws all go through the one official request route.

Contact your councillor

Council publishes the current councillors and their official contact routes; the Victorian Electoral Commission publishes the ward map.

Have a say on a proposal

Three different processes, each with its own standing. Feedback on a community consultation is not a formal planning submission: an objection or submission on a planning application or a scheme amendment is a statutory step with its own rights.

How consultation and planning work

Attend or question Council

Meetings are public. Council publishes when they are held, how to ask a public question and how to present a petition.

Find who is responsible

Start with who manages the thing. The common local traps are below; where responsibility depends on the exact location, check before reporting.

Make or escalate a complaint

Something needs fixing? Start with the appropriate service request.

The service, decision, delay or response is the problem? Use the relevant complaint process.
