  • Cr Ron Mildren declared an indirect conflict of interest in item 8.8.

Council recorded the nature of the interest as: Cr Mildren’s business has provided advice in respect to a number of sites of developments comprised in the multiple site planning scheme amendment. Statement from Cr Watson Cr Watson requested that the following comments be recorded in the minutes: At the councillor briefing of 29 April council officers gave a verbal report on the Hills Strategy Priority List. During this report mention was made of possible priority items for Huon Hill. As I own a small parcel of land on Huon Hill from which I receive lease payments for the use of telecommunications towers, and without the benefit of a written officers report, I took a conservative view at the time and declared a conflict of interest in the matter. However, I have given further consideration to this matter and taken advice in relation to it. While each report must be considered on its merits in terms of its impact on my land on Huon Hill, I am satisfied that on the basis of the current priority action plan for the Wodonga Hills presented in item 8.11, I do not have a direct or indirect conflict of interest. Therefore I will not be declaring a conflict of interest for that item. Acting Chairperson At this point Cr Bennett noted that due to her conflict of interest an acting Chairperson would need to be elected for item 17.2. Cr Bennett asked for nominations for the position of acting Chairperson when item 17.2 was before the meeting. Cr Watson nominated Cr Mitchell, and the nomination was seconded by Cr Lowe. There were no other nominations. In the absence of any other nominations the Chairperson declared Cr Mitchell elected to the position of acting Chairperson for item 17.2 on the agenda.
